When you look back to the beginning, it apparently wasn’t at all certain to the young Gail Weingast that she would end up with a stellar career in medicine. In fact, the future Dr. Gail Weingast’s education started with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish from Tufts University. Soon after, though, something happened, because she was soon studying medicine at the Boston University School of Medicine. She officially became Dr. Gail Weingast MD in 1976, which indicates a strong commitment to medicine.
Soon after becoming Dr. Gail Weingast, she worked for a time at Colorado General Hospital in Denver. There, she completed a pediatrics internship by 1977 and a pediatrics residency the next two years. She then completed a residency in radiology between 1980 and 1983 and followed that with a fellowship in ultrasound in 1983. Dr. Gail Weingast finally completed her post-graduate studies as a radiologist at Denver’s St. Anthony’s Hospital in 1984. After that, she worked at several other Colorado hospitals before heading to New York for a time. She finally settled into William W. Backus Hospital in Norwich, Connecticut, where she has been their Chief of Ultrasound and Breast Imaging for decades.
